Select Healthcare offers a network of private mental health care homes across England and Wales aiming to provide those facing psychological and emotional challenges with professional, personalised and compassionate support. Our staff works toward supporting residents to regain or preserve independence while progressing through their personalised mental health care plans we create based on each individual’s specific needs.
We have 9 mental health residential care homes across the UK perfect for individuals needing structured support in this area. One of our main priorities is to create a home-from-home environment where residents are not only receiving the help they need on a clinical level but feel comfortable and are involved in a community.
Our team focuses on encouraging residents to get involved in activities that help with socialisation and independent living skills. To support this, we have safe outdoor areas as well as comfortable lounge spaces for residents to spend time in and we regularly initiate local outings and day trips.
Our services are suitable for individuals facing various conditions including those diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, PTSD and others. Select’s approach is holistic and flexible which means that each Select resident receives a programme that’s specifically created for their needs, our ultimate purpose being to help them regain as much of their independence as possible and help improve their quality of life.
Mental health care (in a clinical context) is first and foremost the process of providing the necessary support to a person struggling with a condition such as a psychiatric/emotional disorder. This can encompass different aspects of the individual’s care, for example it can include things like help with day-to-day routines or medication schedules but it can also cover support with social skills, independent living, etc.
Ultimately, it will depend on the individual needs of the patient, but typically it involves providing a safe environment whether this be the individual’s home or a more clinical setting where they can receive the support they need while their personal growth and independence are also being promoted.
A mental health care plan is a document that is created by the clinician and patient working together. It can look very differently from one individual to the next as it should be highly personalised to specific needs and it typically outlines things like medication, level of care needed, treatment goals and anything else relevant to the individual’s condition and care.
