Westwood Court Care Home, Winsford, Cheshire.
My father spent nearly 12 months at Westwood Court having been accepted there from another local care home that could no longer cope with the challenges faced by his growing dementia. As a family we were extremely impressed by the level of thoroughness, professionalism and dignity that was evident. In contrast to our previous experience, staffing levels are not only good but also staff retention extremely high. The senior nursing staff have, by and large, been there for many years and this shows in the relationship with their carer colleagues and thorough knowledge and understanding of their charges. A culture of mutual respect is quite evident between staff and this is translated into the very best of human caring we witnessed during my fathers final few months.
Rooms are of a reasonable size, food appeared plentiful, nicely presented and nutritious. Residents activities were numerous and trips organised on a regular basis.
The home itself is in need of a little updating and renovating, however, in no way did this detract from its most important aspect - the amazing and wonderful staff, who always seem to have a smile on their faces and be happy to help in any way they could.
Westwood Court appears to be an extremely well organised care home and it was quite clear that my father had prescribed topical creams and ointments applied regularly to affected areas of his skin which was not always the case previously and as a result his overall skin condition improved. Additionally, the attention to his personal hygiene was excellent.
Having a loved one in residential care is always extremely concerning that their personal needs are being met in the best possible way. We have no doubts whatsoever about the exemplary care provided to my father before he sadly passed away. As a family we are in their debt and will unequivocally be happy to recommend to anyone considering placing a loved one in this facility.
