Jean & Ron

Hello Jeannette.

As you know Peter moved into Briery Lodge in March 2014, after six months in Oak House, Shrewsbury where because of a deterioration in his health, he was re-assessed as needing Residential Care.

Peter’s Health has improved greatly since this time and he is a much happier person and enjoys life to the full to the best of his ability.

The Staff at Briery Lodge meet all his complex medical needs very well, with support from Peter’s GP and District Nurses who administer his Insulin injections. The support involves providing the correct diabetic diet, care and treatment regarding his epilepsy and being aware that Peter will not communicate that he may be feeling unwell, he does not recognise a diabetic hypo or have any warning of an epileptic seizure, in these situations the staff no exactly how to support him.  On the occasions, (which are few), when Peter has needed further treatment from specialists we have always been advised, before, throughout and after.

Peter has a great social life, inside Briery Lodge and outside either at Village Social Activities or Activities with his own Peer Group.  He goes on holiday and he is supported by the staff with the finances involved and when he goes shopping and we have no concerns regarding the way he is assisted with his finances.

Do we feel that Peter is safe in Briery Lodge, yes his welfare is first and foremost with all the support workers and Managers, Peter is safe, well and happy and when he visits us he is always happy to “Go Home”.

Thank you

Jean and Ron Williamson
