To everyone at Oak Farm
I'd like to take the time to say a massive 'thank you' for having me! From the first day of my placement I was made to feel so welcome and valued and it was nice to be shown around the building by Nat! I feel like I've learnt so much from this placement as well, especially about PEG tubes! I've never seen so many PEGs in one building! I feel like I've become a PEG expert now!
Everyone I worked with was really friendly and willing to show me and explain to me their job roles, which I have appreciated so much. Special thanks to the carers I shadowed, as well as the members of the activities team, SLTs and physios; I can appreciate that it's probably annoying having a student following you around, so thanks for putting up with me!
Special thanks also to the nurses that I worked more closely with over my twelve week placement. They were always willing to answer my questions and let me shadow their work. I also appreciate the PEG feeding regime copies that you gave me, (I crossed out the names to retain confidentiality!) and other learning materials which were helpful for my learning and my portfolio. Thank you Hilary, for printing off the ‘neurological conditions’ workbook, it’s such a good resource and better material than we get in lectures.
Thank you so much for giving me time to do my work, I really appreciate this because, at times, I felt I was getting so behind! So thanks again!
It’s great to see that the team cares so much about the patients and that good quality care is delivered and, at the same time, you’re a really fun team to work with! You’ve had me in stitches at times!
As a ‘thank you’ I’ve bought in some sweets, chocolates and crisps for all the staff at ‘Oak Farm’, I hope you like them! For those on a health drive I’ve bought some Quinoa for you, it’s amazing stuff, it’s really nice, high in protein and low carbs, with a bit of garlic and red peppers – it’s amazing. I also bought some kitchen towels just in case you run out of blue roll to mop up any spillages!
I would recommend you to students as a placement area, but I don’t want to do it too much, otherwise everyone will want to come! Thanks again and best wishes to everyone! From Student Claire xx
