June’s Care Home Activity Roundup at Select
Our care home residents across the country are always up and about joining in with activities and trips out. Our care home activity coordinators love thinking up new activities inside and outside of the home so we thought we’d share some of the fun care home activities they have been up to recently.
Out and About in Telford
Getting out and about in the local area is an important part of keeping our residents mentally stimulated and happy so that’s exactly what our Aldergrove Manor Care Home Residents did recently with a trip into Telford with plenty of treats to be had. Earlier on in the month they enjoyed a fun nutrition and hydration tasting event and celebrated National Ocean Day by creating an ocean mural for the wall. Project Greenhouse also got underway with the arrival of their brand new greenhouse and the first watering of their tomato plants.
Strawberries at Springfield Park
Springfield Park has been growing strawberries in one of their courtyards this year. Their fantastic cook Jenny then managed to make some strawberry cheesecakes out of them for the residents to enjoy. Residents also enjoyed a Wimbledon day where even the postman joined in!
Earlier on in the month, Springfield Park enjoyed play your cards right, bingo and bucks fizz in the garden to make the most of the good weather. Some of the residents even took a day trip to Blackpool to enjoy the seaside fun.
Pizza Making at Royal Park
Residents at Royal Park Care Home in Wolverhampton got creative last week with a fun pizza-making activity as one of their care home activities. They had a great time picking out toppings and putting the perfect mix together for their pizza masterpieces.
A Taste of Mexico at Rhosyn Melyn Nursing Home
Our care home activity coordinators love a bit of armchair travelling and thanks to a kind donation transported residents to Mexico for the day with sombreros, nachos and more to enjoy for all of the residents in our Wrexham care home.
Upcoming Events in Basingstoke
For those in the Basingstoke area, Beech Tree Care Home will be having a summer fete on Saturday 12th August with a BBQ, hook a duck and more. They are currently looking for donated prizes for the raffle and tombola as well as donations of cakes, biscuits or tray bakes for their cake stand which would be gratefully recieved. Earlier on in the month, their coffee morning went brilliantly with plenty of lattes and cappuccinos enjoyed. They also had fun with parachute games last week which was a great activity for all.
Top Tunes in Walsall
There were singalongs galore at White Horse Care Home in Walsall earlier in the month as they held a fun karaoke session to get the residents up on their feet and involved.
Garden Fun and Creative Sessions at The Lodge
We love putting together creative care home activities and this month The Lodge Care Home residents were joined by some younger friends to create their own coloured images. Earlier on in the month, residents baked their very own homemade cinnamon rolls and made the most of the good weather in their garden.
