What is a Care Assistant?
A Care Assistant is someone who cares for every aspect of a person’s day-to-day life. Whilst Care Assistants can work out in the community or in individual’s homes, our Care Assistants care for our many important guests in Select care homes across the UK. Our Care Assistants know that no two people are the same and care for people from all walks of life with many different physical or mental health conditions. Care Assistants are the helping hand our guests need to support them and offer a friendly face in our many care homes.
What Does a Care Assistant Do?
Our UK Care Assistants have a wide range of different skills to help them support our guests in a range of different tasks. This could range from taking a person’s temperature, helping them take the right medication and other essential care tasks to supporting guest activities to make sure everyone in our homes is able to have fun and join in. Other Care Assistant tasks could include helping individuals to dress, eat and drink or booking appointments for guests and attending with them when necessary.
What Skills or Qualifications Do I Need to Become a Care Assistant?
To become a Care Assistant, you do not need to have many specific qualifications, a passion for care and a desire to learn is the most important thing for those looking to become a Care Assistant. That said, there are one or two basic things that may be required if you would like to apply to become a Care Assistant. Aside from a good standard of English and the ability to communicate with your teammates and our guests, you may also have to perform some basic maths within your role so a GCSE A-C would be beneficial to your application to become a Care Assistant. Some Care Assistant roles may ask that you have a care-related qualification such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care. However, if you do not have these qualifications already, a lot of Care Assistant roles will allow you to work towards these types of qualifications whilst you are training to become a Care Assistant.
